If you make, store, transport, sell or import food in India — from a cloud kitchen to a packaged snacks brand — an FSSAI registration or licence is not optional. Selling without one carries real penalties.
one-startup is a private consultancy, not a government body. FSSAI applications can be filed directly on the FoSCoS portal; our fee is for expert assistance and is separate from the statutory government fee.

No spam. Only FSSAI registration and food compliance support.
The essentials in under a minute — so you apply under the right category the first time.
Check my requirementThe Food Safety and Standards Authority of India regulates every food business in the country. Depending on your turnover and scale, you either take a Basic registration or a State or Central licence, and you receive a 14-digit FSSAI number that must be displayed on your premises and your packaging.
Basic registration — petty food businesses with turnover up to ₹12 lakh a year. State licence — turnover above ₹12 lakh and up to ₹20 crore, operating within one state. Central licence — turnover above ₹20 crore, importers, exporters, e-commerce and multi-state operators. Cloud kitchens, home bakers and food influencers selling products all need one too.
A Basic registration is often issued within about 7 to 10 working days. State and Central licences usually take about 30 to 60 days, since the department may seek clarifications or inspect the premises.
The government fee is ₹100 per year for Basic registration, and typically ₹2,000 to ₹5,000 per year for a State licence and ₹7,500 per year for a Central licence, depending on category. Professional fees at one-startup start from ₹1,499.
No confusing packages — just clear professional fees for expert help. Government fee is charged separately at actuals:
Government fees are payable per year of licence validity and vary by category and duration — ₹100 for Basic registration, and higher slabs for State and Central licences. We tell you the exact total upfront, in writing, before you pay.
It keeps you legally trading, lets you list on delivery platforms and marketplaces, and protects you from penalties that can dwarf the licence fee itself.
Done wrong — the wrong category, an understated turnover or a missing category of operation — and your licence is suspended or you are forced to reapply. That is exactly why we check the category before filing.
Exact documents depend on your category and scale — we send a custom checklist for your case.
PAN, Aadhaar and a photograph of the proprietor, partners or directors.
Rent agreement or ownership document, plus a utility bill for the food business premises.
Incorporation certificate, partnership deed, GST certificate or Udyam registration, as applicable.
A processing unit plan and list of machinery, required for State and Central licence applications.
The exact food products you handle, which determines your business category and licence type.
Water test report from an accredited lab and a food safety management plan, for manufacturing units.
From your first message to your licence certificate — smooth, online, and easy to follow.
Tell us what you make or sell, your turnover and where you operate. We confirm whether you need Basic, State or Central.
We map your products to the correct FSSAI business categories — the single most common place applications go wrong.
Our team collects your KYC, premises proof and product list, and checks everything before filing.
We file your application on the FoSCoS portal, pay the government fee and share the reference number for tracking.
We respond to any clarification the department raises and help you prepare if an inspection is scheduled.
Your 14-digit licence number is issued and the certificate is available for download and display.
The licence is the start, not the finish. FSSAI compliance is ongoing, and lapses are easy to spot during inspection.
The certificate must be displayed prominently at the premises and the number printed on labels.
Manufacturers and importers file an annual return by 31 May each year.
Applicable to milk and milk-product businesses.
Licences must be renewed before expiry — applications open 30 to 180 days ahead.
Simple rule: renew before expiry, display the number everywhere, and file returns if your category requires them.
A food business needs more than a certificate. Our team also helps with:
Whatever your question, we'll give you a clear, plain-English answer.
Choosing Basic when you needed State, or missing a product category, is the most common and most expensive FSSAI mistake. We check that before anything is filed.
Your documents are checked by a professional before filing, to reduce avoidable rejection risk. Not a form-filling bot.
The quote is the final cost. No surprises after you pay.
One named person from first message to final certificate.
Wherever your business is, we file for it.
We also help with returns, filings, renewals, notices and ongoing compliance.
FoSCoS has made applications faster, but enforcement on labelling, e-commerce and renewals has tightened sharply.
Get it reviewedThe unified FoSCoS portal now handles registration, licensing, modification and renewal in one place.
Food businesses selling through online platforms generally need a Central licence, regardless of how small the operation looks.
The FSSAI logo, licence number, and mandatory declarations on packaging are checked actively, both offline and on marketplaces.
Renewal must be applied for before expiry. Late renewal attracts a daily penalty and lapsed licences may require a fresh application.
